New SOL on 1 July 2016

The legislative instrument IMMI 16/059 F2016L00800 has introduced a new SOL and CSOL which will come into effect on 1 July 2016. The legislative instrument makes the following amendments to the SOL and CSOL:

Occupations moved from SOL to CSOL

  • 233611  Mining Engineers (excluding Petroleum)
  • 233612  Petroleum Engineers
  • 234912  Metallurgists
  • 251311  Environmental Health Officers
  • 251312  Occupational Health & Safety Advisers
  • 411211  Dental Hygienists
  • 411212  Dental Prosthetists
  • 411213  Dental Technicians
  • 411213  Dental Therapists

 

Occupations added to the SOL                                                                                                

  • 251912  Orthotist or Prosthetist
  • 252711  Audiologists

 

Temporary closure of ICT jobs in Victoria

On 9 November 2016, the Victorian Government announced :

On Due to a large volume of skilled visa nomination applications received, applications for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) occupations will not be accepted from 11 November 2016 to 6 March 2017.

The occupations affected by the temporary closure are:

  • 135112   ICT Project Manager
  • 261111   ICT Business Analyst
  • 261112   Systems Analyst
  • 261311   Analyst Programmer
  • 261312   Developer Programmer
  • 261313   Software Engineer
  • 261314   Software Tester
  • 261399   Software and Applications Programmers nec
  • 262111   Database Administrator
  • 262112   ICT Security Specialist
  • 263111   Computer Network and Systems Engineer

 

Applicants applying under the streamlined PhD and 457 pathways are not affected by this closure and may apply with these ICT occupations during this time.

Victorian Visa Nomination Occupation Lists

The following occupations have been removed from the Victorian Visa Nomination Occupation Lists:

  • 234411 Geologist
  • 234412 Geophysicist

Applications will close for these occupations on 31 December 2016.

Yet again proof of the adage that if a person is eligible for a visa today he or she should apply today.
